The Brief
A personal project built for Colchester's E2-E4 chess club, and a chance to build something more technically ambitious than a typical brochure site: a live tournament tracker used during real club events.
The Build
The tracker scrapes results live from chess-results.com across three different page formats, then layers on Elo-based win-probability predictions and a Monte Carlo simulation to estimate qualification odds as a tournament unfolds. Players can follow specific games with web push notifications, and a scorecard upload feature reads handwritten notation via OCR and runs it through a chess engine for analysis.
