The Brief
The Cranley Gallery is the working gallery and studio of painter Peter Spens in Highgate, north London. The existing WordPress and Divi site had grown to 62 pages and around 390 images across exhibitions, catalogues and artist pages, and needed rebuilding on faster, more maintainable foundations without losing any of that content or its existing search visibility.
The Migration
Every page and image was carried across to a new Astro build, with the full original URL structure preserved through redirects so nothing already ranking in Google was put at risk. Every artwork page got a proper gallery and lightbox component, and the artist's real CV was transcribed into a chronological timeline component rather than left as a static document. A self-hosted, compressed exhibition video and a full contact and visit-booking form rounded out the rebuild.
Structured Data & SEO
Added WebSite, ArtGallery and Person schema sitewide, plus 240 individual VisualArtwork schema nodes and breadcrumb markup, so search engines can understand the catalogue at the level of each individual painting, not just the site as a whole. The old WordPress install has since been fully decommissioned.
Later Upgrade
The site was subsequently upgraded to Astro 7 with a full Tailwind v4 conversion across all 83 pages, keeping it on current tooling rather than letting it drift.
